One of first 3PLs to implement an RFID Solution
OH Logistics has quickly become a leading supply chain RFID solutions provider in a marketplace seeking to adopt the new technology standard. In July 2004 OH Logistics became one of the first 3PLs to implement an RFID compliance center starting at our Dallas Regional Distribution Campus with service to a major pharmaceutical company. More importantly, OH Logistics incorporated RFID within our own warehouse management system (WMS). In this way we provide a fully integrated distribution network using the new technology standard.
The RFID-integrated distribution network currently serves three of Wal-Mart’s Distribution Centers, all within 60 miles of the OH Logistics Dallas campus. Our RFID Supply Chain Solution is designed to support your RFID needs and to meet the requirements of all mass retailers.
OH Logistics RFID supply chain solutions are designed for versatility. We have the capability to generate labels for customers utilizing OH Logistics' WMS, or we can serve as a flow-through center for customers using their own WMS.
Key attributes of the RFID solution:
- RFID Solution is a stand-alone application, integrated into OH Logistics Warehouse Management System (WMS)
- Application requires a 940 Inbound Order & 856 Ship Confirmation to generate case and pallet RFID labels
- EDI files can come from OH Logistics WMS or can be sent from a customer’s Warehouse Management System (WMS)
- Flow through shipments are sent to OH Logistics Compliance Center on consignment or as a stop-over
- OH Logistics produces new shipment BOLs for Consignment Shipments
At our compliance center all pallets and cases are labeled using RFID tags operating in the UHF frequency range and Class 1 compliant. In addition, OH Logistics RFID Solutions incorporate RFID readers to validate the contents of each RFID label. Readers and labels are fully scalable.
We also offer solutions above the current Wal-Mart specifications which incorporate an Electronic Product Code (EPC), a 24-bit Object Class Code and a 36-bit Serial number.
Our RFID solution provides you with these benefits:
- Scalable to utilize a 96-bit RFID tag
- Able to incorporate lot control information
- Customizable label formats including human readable information
- Capable of transmitting RFID information back to the customer
OH Logistics achieved quick implementation of RFID solutions by collaborating with International Paper’s Smart Packaging Business and 3M’s High Jump software, both leaders in defining RFID processes and standards.
The RFID Compliance Center features:
- International Paper Project Management
- HighJump Compliance Advantage™ Software
- Printronix RFID Label Printer
- Alien RFID Readers
- GlobeRanger Middleware
OH Logistics is prepared to deploy RFID to our other 17 distribution campuses throughout the country. As each distribution campus integrates RFID, shippers will benefit greatly from the leadership and experience of OH Logistics.
